Reno – 125th Anniversary – compiled by Carol Coon in 1990.![]()
The Reno Toll Bridge crossed the Allegheny River between Reno and Oil City. For a few years it was also used by the streetcar line going from Oil City to Franklin. The bridge existed for about 35 years.
The Reno Elementary School had four rooms and originally there were 2 grades per room with one teacher per room. Until 1960 the bell was rung each morning to signal the start of school. In 1929 two long tubes were attached to the upper floor for a fire escape. The school closed in 1968 and was demolished in 1983.
