Pleasantview United Methodist Church, Irwin Township was organized about1840. Their palce of worship was the Bullion school house, a logstructure. Among the first members were: Stephen Yard,, Soloman Sutton,John F. Henderson, Chauncey Hamilton, William Hovis, John McMullin, JohnMorris, William Allen, Marcha Allen, Isreael Beach and wife, Reuben Sutton,Mary McElphatrick, and Samuel Baker. In 1850 the present church site waspurchased from Hezekiah Mays.The money and materials were secured by Stephen Yar, Solomon Sutton, JohnF. Henderson, and Chauncey Hamilton, who also did the principal part of thework of the erection.The church is situated in the northern paprt of the township, half a milefrom May's Corners, on the Pittsburgh and Franklin Road (Old Route 8 ).
